Preschool...

Our Mission & Philosophy
Our goal is to provide a safe and nurturing environment where your children will be
loved, respected, and allowed to learn at their own pace.

In a recent article in “The Daily News”, when childhood education experts were
asked about academics for preschoolers, they responded with an emphatic “No. It’s
not at all necessary. Children are learning through their play. Dittos and Flashcards
are a detriment.”

Important Points

We focus on the development of the whole child, their physical, emotional, social,
pre-academic, and cognitive development.

Our goals for your children are to learn self-help skills as well as how to be a part
of a community.

We help children become independent thinkers and problem solvers.

We have a family dynamic with a mixed age group which allows children the
opportunity to learn for each other.

"Peer teaching and learning has intrinsic value because it not only enhances a
child’s sense of mastery and worth, but also facilitates cooperation and appreciation
from others.”

Interactions Among Teachers and Children
Teacher to Child Ratio 1:9 (3-5yrs.)  1:6 (2-4 yrs.)

Interactions between children and adults provide opportunities for children to
develop an understanding of self and others and are characterized by warmth,
personal respect, individuality, positive support and responsiveness. Teachers
facilitate interactions among children to provide opportunities for development of self-
esteem social competence and intellectual growth.
  * This is the criteria set forth by the National Association for the Education of Young Children

Portfolio Books & Developmental Profiles

Each child will receive a portfolio scrapbook in which we use photographs to
illustrate what they are learning and display their artwork. We also use this book as a
writing tool.

Teachers will schedule meetings twice a year to discuss your child’s
developmental progression and goals for the future.

Family Style Dining

Snack time is viewed as an opportunity for independence and learning. Children
participate in all aspects of the mealtime activity: set the table, bring the food to the
table, serve themselves, and clean up.

“What is the best way for children
to make the most of their lives?

They must engage
in self-paced, child
controlled play!”
"Our society has become increasingly
complex, competitive and fast-paced.
As a result, children’s spontaneous
play is being replaced with structured
activities both at home and at school.
Unfortunately, worksheets and drills
are not likely to give children the skills
and attitudes about learning and life
that they will need to be able to adapt
to the demands of the future.”
– Rogers and Sawyers
Registration is open for the
2011 - 2012 school year and we
